The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) of the Philippines recently urged the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to adjust its policies to address the issue of foreign offshore gaming operators (POGO) workers being stranded due to passport issues, and to expedite the deportation process.
According to the current NBI policy, deported foreign nationals must present a passport to obtain the necessary permits. However, many foreign POGO workers have had their passports confiscated by their employers, leading to significant delays in their deportation process and further burdening immigration management.
To address this issue, PAOCC suggests that the immigration bureau collaborate with the NBI to adopt other forms of identity verification, such as fingerprint records, to smoothly confirm the identity of deportees in the absence of a passport.
PAOCC Deputy Executive Director Zhang Qiaowei stated that all government agencies must work together to ensure that these foreign POGO workers can be deported as soon as possible, so that law enforcement can allocate more resources to combat illegal operators who are still violating the presidential ban.
"The government must act swiftly to avoid delays in the deportation process and ensure that all non-compliant foreign POGO workers can leave the country as soon as possible," emphasized Zhang Qiaowei.
Currently, the Philippine government is intensifying its crackdown on illegal POGO operations and is committed to improving relevant policies to enhance law enforcement efficiency, maintain national security, and uphold social order.
