Allwyn collaborates with the supermarket chain Aldi to introduce the national lottery into the self-checkout services of all its stores in the UK.
These self-checkout machines will offer Lucky Dip lottery tickets for games such as Lotto, EuroMillions, Thunderball, and Set For Life, and customers holding a National Lottery fast pay card can scan it themselves to create customized lottery tickets.
Aldi has been offering national lottery games in its stores since 2021, but this will be the first time these games are available at all self-checkout machines, as the store becomes one of the first in the UK to launch this service, with a full rollout expected to be completed by spring.
Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi, said: "We are always looking for ways to improve the shopping experience for our customers, which is why we have made it easier for customers to participate in the national lottery while purchasing essentials at self-checkout machines.
"As the cheapest supermarket in the UK, our shoppers know they can always find great value at Aldi, but we hope some lucky customers will also find winning numbers at our self-checkout machines."
Good news: Scientific Games' SCiQ retail technology recently made its debut in the European market, launching at the UK supermarket chain Asda
Jenny Blogg, Chief Operating Officer at Allwyn, added: "As we continue our retail transformation journey, adjusting our offerings according to the ever-changing retail landscape and the new look of our stores, we are thrilled to expand our collaboration with Aldi.
"This will ultimately make the national lottery available at every touchpoint of the Aldi customer journey, helping us reach more players. Thus, no matter how Aldi customers choose to shop - whether at the main cashier or through self-checkout - they can always opt for national lottery games.
"This project is the result of the joint efforts of the Allwyn and Aldi teams, and I must express my sincere thanks to everyone involved."
