Playtech has launched the third edition of its e-book on the gaming industry in Latin America. This new report delves into player trends, their concerns, and main interests, providing expert information on responsible gaming to industry stakeholders in one of the fastest-growing regions globally.
This study reflects Playtech's ongoing commitment to promoting a safe and fair gaming environment, raising standards in the global online gaming industry. The new edition of the report presents significant findings from a survey conducted with 2,500 people from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Colombia. Thanks to the participation of these users, a detailed insight into the perceptions of the Latin American market has been obtained, including unprecedented information about their habits and concerns.
Regulation and safety: keys in the sector's evolution
The recent regulation of online gaming in Brazil and Peru has changed players' perceptions. Confidence in the sector has increased, with only 25% of respondents avoiding betting due to fear of fraud or gaming-related issues. In Peru, 92% of players bet at least once a month, and 80% of respondents support stricter regulations on betting advertising.
In Argentina, 77% of respondents also advocate for stricter restrictions on betting advertising, while 88% support more rigorous age verification policies due to concerns about minors' participation in online gaming. In Chile, 63% of players feel safer using legal and registered platforms, although only 15% are fully informed about current legislation.
Meanwhile, Colombia, with more consolidated regulations, stands out as the most mature market among those analyzed. A key aspect for Colombian players is the speed and reliability of payment providers, with 58% of respondents indicating this factor as decisive when choosing a gaming platform.
