According to media reports, Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit three Southeast Asian countries—Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia—in mid-April.
This will be Xi Jinping's first visit this year, aimed at deepening cooperation with Southeast Asian countries.
Sources revealed that Xi plans to stay in Malaysia for three days, continuing the fruitful meeting he had with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar in Beijing last November. Diplomats noted that this visit will further promote the development of bilateral relations between China and Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian government seems to be using this opportunity to increase the regulation of various parks, with several surprise inspections recently focusing on unlicensed operations, visa violations, and other issues.
Besides Malaysia, Xi Jinping will also visit Vietnam and Cambodia. Notably, Xi's last trip to Southeast Asia was in December 2023, when he made a state visit to Vietnam. According to previous reports from the Vietnamese government's website, Vietnam is China's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region and the fifth largest globally.
This visit is expected to cover topics such as economic and trade cooperation, regional security, and the "Belt and Road" initiative, further consolidating the close relations between China and Southeast Asian countries.
