According to the latest data released, the "Safer Gambling Week" campaign has achieved significant success, with over 1.5 million individual accounts activating safer gambling tools, a 22% increase from last year, setting a new historical record.
Among the various tools available, setting deposit limits was the most popular. During the campaign, the number of new deposit limit settings increased by 14%, with nearly half being first-time users, reflecting the public's heightened awareness of gambling risks and increased acceptance of self-control tools.
During this period, 7.2 million messages about responsible gambling were sent, achieving over 60 million exposures through social media platforms, a 21% increase year-over-year. Meanwhile, the official website of "Safer Gambling Week," which provides advice and support services, received over 500,000 visits, showing a growing public demand for help and advice.
This initiative was led by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) and received broad support from gambling operators, charitable organizations, legislators, and regulatory bodies. UK football clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Southampton also actively participated, helping to expand the social impact of the campaign.
BGC Chief Executive Grainne Hurst affirmed the results of the campaign: "'Safer Gambling Week' once again demonstrates its value in driving positive development in the industry. The new data not only reflects our members' ongoing efforts in promoting responsible gambling but also shows the industry's commitment to creating a safe gambling environment for customers within the regulatory framework."
She added: "While our members promote safer gambling methods all year round, this week's concentrated advocacy, combining the power of parliament, regulatory bodies, and the industry, has formed a strong industry consensus and action."
