The African betting market is rapidly rising, becoming a new focal point of global industry attention. For this reason, the 2025 SBC Summit has specially set up the "Emerging Markets Africa" sub-venue, which will be held on September 16 at the Lisbon International Exhibition Center (FIL) in Portugal, focusing comprehensively on the development trends, policy evolution, and market potential of the African gaming and betting industry.
As one of the flagship conferences of the global betting industry, SBC this year pushes Africa to the center stage. From mature markets like Nigeria and South Africa that already have scale, to rapidly growing emerging countries like Ghana and Tanzania, this African sub-venue will cover the extensive business landscape of the region.
Rasmus Sojmark, founder and CEO of SBC, stated that Africa is full of opportunities and often misunderstood by the outside world, hence this conference aims to create an honest and practical communication platform to help industry insiders truly understand this potential-rich continent.
The summit will explore the core role of mobile devices in driving betting participation—with over 70% of Africans owning smartphones and mobile payments deeply integrated into daily life, creating a unique participation ecosystem for betting operations. The one-day agenda also includes five expert-led panel discussions covering regulation, cultural differences, market strategies, and localization challenges.
Beyond technological trends, regulatory reform is also a core topic. As more African countries advance the legalization and modernization of betting regulations, how to establish a fair and transparent regulatory framework will become a focus for decision-makers. At the same time, accurately reaching users in a market rich in linguistic and cultural diversity becomes key to brand building.
This African session is the first of the 2025 SBC Summit "Emerging Markets" series, which will also introduce related sub-forums covering Eurasia, the Middle East, and Asia, further consolidating SBC's position as a global betting industry trendsetter.
