Betsson AB has successfully obtained the first local gaming license in Peru’s newly regulated market.
The licenses, which cover online casinos and sportsbooks under the Betsson and Betsafe brands, mark a new milestone in the company’s expansion into Latin America.
The Inkabet brand is expected to receive additional licenses soon.
Betsson’s journey in Latin America began in 2008 and has become a recognized sports betting brand in Peru.
The company's position was enhanced in 2019 with the launch of the Betsafe brand.
In addition, Betsson acquired Peru-based sports betting and online casino business Inkabet in 2021, a move that will help further boost its market presence.
In addition to Peru, Betsson holds licenses in other Latin American markets, including Colombia and Argentina.
Commenting on the latest license acquisition, Betsson AB President and CEO Pontus Lindwall said: “We are very much looking forward to the introduction of local regulations in Peru and are very pleased with the issuance of these licenses.
“With this announcement, we reaffirm our commitment to the local economy and the country’s new regulatory framework.”
Betsson reported strong fourth-quarter 2023 and full-year 2023 financial results earlier this year.
The company's year-end report showed an increase in both revenue and profitability. The data showed that group revenue was 251.9 million euros ($268.7 million), an increase of 14% compared with the same period last year.
