Kindred Group together with Swedish operators ATG and Svenska Spel announced that they will continue to jointly release Responsible Gambling (RG) indicators for the Swedish market.
This partnership began in the fall of 2022, aiming to raise public awareness and promote fact-based discussions about high-risk gambling behaviors.
Every six months, licensed operators report key indicators to the Swedish Gambling Authority.
These indicators include the percentage of customers who contact due to gambling problems, the effectiveness of such proactive contacts, the average reduction in gambling among contacted individuals, and the proportion of contacted customers who choose to self-exclude for less than and more than six months.
The purpose of releasing these indicators is to inform Swedish stakeholders about high-risk gambling behaviors and to assess the effectiveness of preventive measures implemented by operators. By increasing transparency, the program aims to enhance trust in the gambling industry through balanced regulation, technology, research, and human intervention.
Kindred's report indicates that in the first half of 2024, the proportion of customers who reduced gambling following proactive contact slightly decreased from 78.19% in the second half of 2023 to 76.85%.
Additionally, the proportion of customers choosing to opt out of the Kindred platform has also declined.
Kindred continues to collaborate with the Swedish Professional Football League (SEF) and treatment center Spelfriheten through its Unibet brand, educating football players and staff on safer gambling practices and early signs of problematic gambling behaviors.
Financially, Kindred reported that the revenue share generated by high-risk participants is at its lowest level in five quarters, accounting for 3% of the revenue in the second quarter of 2024, down from 3.1% in the second quarter of 2023.
Furthermore, 86.8% of players showed improved behavior after intervention, slightly down from 87.1% in the first quarter of 2024 but up from 86.4% in the second quarter of 2023.
Alexander Westrell, Communications Director of the Kindred Group, stated: "Our entire group is working diligently to ensure our customers enjoy our products in a safe and sustainable manner, which includes educating our customers, stakeholders, and partners about safer gambling measures."
