The kidnapping and murder case in Phnom Penh is unfolding like a drama, layer by layer.

According to the latest reports from Cambodian media today, the two captured kidnappers confessed: they were hired by someone else, entered Cambodia in July this year, with the purpose of kidnapping a Chinese male victim and killing him and everyone around him. According to the plan, after succeeding, the two had to immediately flee abroad to evade arrest.

This report contains a lot of information!

First, this is not a simple kidnapping for money. Being hired by someone else indicates that revenge was the primary motive, and making money was incidental.

Second, the employer did not hire "hunters" from Cambodia or even Southeast Asia, but brought people from outside the region. According to the latest information I have, these people were brought over from within the country.

Today, a floating corpse was retrieved from the river in Madawong Province, Cambodia.

It is reported that local police were called to the scene for investigation, and the forensic examination found that the deceased was wearing trousers and a short-sleeved shirt, with multiple injuries on his body. The police deduced that he was murdered and then thrown into the river, drifting downstream.

Local officials told the media that, based on the appearance, the deceased is very likely to be Chinese.

This news has also triggered a lot of speculation among the onlookers today: could it be the hostage?

This, it's hard to say. Because, after all, there has been no news of the hostage so far.

According to our common sense: if the hostage is still alive, kept somewhere, the captured kidnappers would confess in the station to suffer less, and the police would quickly go to find and rescue the hostage; unless, the hostage is no more, with no trace of life or death, then, the captured kidnappers still have a reason to resist, after all, without finding the person, there's no evidence, and this life cannot yet be accounted for.

Third, the primary purpose of the kidnappers was to kidnap and kill, which means the hostage's life was in great danger! As of now, according to the information disclosed by the authorities, the whereabouts of the hostage are still unknown, whether alive or dead.

The two kidnappers were captured in Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia. After committing the crime in Phnom Penh, they fled north in panic, eventually overturning their car and getting caught!

The police relentlessly pursued them! Not because Cambodia has a "Sky Net," but because the kidnappers' car had a GPS. They rented the car from a rental agency in Phnom Penh, but since they were brought in from within the country, although they had been roaming around Cambodia for nearly two months, they forgot this basic common sense—"Cars rented in Cambodia generally have GPS installed"—which was equivalent to running with real identity, reporting their location as they fled.

Otherwise, why would the police catch up so quickly.

This case involved five people in total, with two now captured, and the other three, the police have not disclosed.

From the publicly reported information, these two mainly got caught because they overturned their car and couldn't escape. The other three probably followed the planned escape route to Laos, and whether they have now crossed the national border or taken back roads to return to the country, or are hiding in the Golden Triangle, is hard to say.

This kidnapping case has evolved to this point, and the drama may have just begun.

Because, in Phnom Penh, in Sihanoukville, in Poipet near the Wealthy Buddha... ...in the streets, what exactly happened is basically common knowledge.

As the rule of law watches from the sidelines, the plot will inevitably advance further, there will be bloodshed, deaths, establishment of rules, reorganization of order, clarification of major and minor kings, and establishment of a tribute system.

However, this time the disturbance is so big, the state's machinery of violence has intervened, and the machinery of law has also started to operate, this matter must continue to develop.

Let's observe!
