The founder of Malaysia-based MBI International Group, Zhang Yufa, who was arrested in Thailand for fraud and money laundering through the internet, has finally been extradited to China for trial after a 2-year judicial process, bringing relief to 400 Chinese investors who were victims.
Lawyer Yu Jiafu, representing the 400 Chinese victims, pointed out that his clients were pleased to hear the news of Zhang Yufa's extradition to China for trial.
"They (the victims) will continue to follow up on the investigation of the case in China to protect their rights.
According to Thai media Thairath, the Thai court ruled in January last year that Zhang Yufa would be extradited to China for trial, and his representative lawyer stated that they would appeal the decision. Finally, this year, the Thai appellate court upheld the decision that Zhang Yufa needed to be extradited to China for trial.
Therefore, Zhang Yufa will be extradited to China, and it has been stated that the Chinese side needs to extradite Zhang within 90 days, otherwise the Thai officials will have to release him.

According to reports, the Chinese side later submitted a petition to the Thai court to extend the time for extraditing Zhang Yufa to China for trial, and the Thai court approved the extension of the extradition deadline to November 15.
The Chinese Embassy in Thailand then arranged for officials to pick up Zhang Yufa from Bangkok Prison and take him to a temporary detention room at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, where, with the coordination of officials and the local immigration bureau, the departure procedures were handled.
