A new project exclusively funded by EveryMatrix has been launched in Lviv, aimed at helping Ukrainian war veterans transition into the tech field to develop new careers.
The non-governmental organization, named "Heroes Academy," is spearheaded by EveryMatrix, inspired by its over 300 employees in Lviv, Ukraine, some of whom are participating in the war.
Ukraine has hundreds of thousands of combatants, and this number is increasing daily. After returning from the battlefield, sometimes severely injured, many need to adapt to society and find employment to secure a more certain future.
The academy will offer courses designed by top experts in the IT industry, equipping veterans with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful IT career.
Beyond the primary goal of equipping veterans with IT skills, the project also aims to help them successfully integrate into today's labor market. EveryMatrix and several other local IT companies will participate in their employment after the veterans complete the courses.
Ebbe Groes, CEO and co-founder of the EveryMatrix group, stated: "Our Lviv office is the core of our ongoing success and development. Since the country has been experiencing conflict, we have been supporting our friends, colleagues, and charitable organizations, having invested over 2 million euros in urgently needed funds, and we will continue to help them.
"Now, we are taking a step further by establishing a second company-run NGO, ensuring that veterans receive the training and skills necessary to return to work and succeed in the tech field.
"The IT industry is one of the strongest parts of the Ukrainian economy, with globally recognized technical standards. I hope many will join us or continue to join other IT companies, bringing hope and a more certain future for themselves and their families."
Professor Oleksiy Druhov, CEO of Heroes Academy, stated: "This is the only ongoing project of its kind in Ukraine for veterans. Our goal is to train four batches of veterans each year.
"Each group has its own specialty areas, such as project management, quality assurance, and full stack, to name a few. We closely monitor the Ukrainian IT market and only train the needed professionals.
"All participants will intern at EveryMatrix and other leading Ukrainian IT companies during their studies, where they will have the best teachers in the IT industry. We also plan to open a professional, inclusive training center by the end of 2024."
This is the second fully-funded NGO initiated by EveryMatrix. In 2015, the iGaming technology provider established TeachStream, providing urgently needed funds and resources for disadvantaged children in Romania, who otherwise might never have the opportunity to develop IT, computer science, mathematics, and English skills.
