An investigation has revealed that the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has requested Australian Internet Service Providers (ISP) to block more illegal offshore gambling sites, as their operations violate the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001.
The latest site to be blocked is Casino Bello, operated by SOFTSWISS. The blocking of the site is one of a series of enforcement actions to protect Australians from the harms of illegal online gambling. ACMA first requested the blocking in November 2019, and has now blocked 1033 illegal and affiliate sites.
Since ACMA began enforcing new rules against illegal offshore gambling in 2017, over 220 illegal service providers have withdrawn from the Australian market.
