This event has produced five future classic race champions in its previous seven editions, with the most recent being Auguste Rodin winning both the Derby and the Irish Derby. The event was sponsored by William Hill in 1976, when it was renamed from the Observer Gold Cup to the William Hill Future Championship.
The William Hill Future Trophy Championship is the highlight of this two-day event, with eight races to be dominated by leading betting companies.
Aidan O'Brien is chasing a record 12th victory and will be riding the pre-race favorite "The Lion In Winter," with odds of 5/2 under the new sponsorship.
