The arrangement is part of the measures included in Ordinance 1,475 which, starting today, prohibits those companies that have not progressed in the license application process.
Brazil.- Starting today, Ordinance 1,475 comes into effect, establishing that only companies that have applied for operational authorization from the government and are already operating may continue their activities between October and the end of December. In this regard, and to further expand the fight against illegal betting houses, it has been decided that those that do not meet the requirements will be blocked from cyberspace.
Google announced that it will require authorization from the Ministry of Finance for betting houses to publish ads for sports betting or online gambling on its platform. Thus, only those companies that have processed the application and are framed by the law will be able to publish ads and be considered by the web search engine of the tech giant.
In a brief statement, Google Brazil reported that they had "updated the advertising policies," which now included the requirement to have authorization from Google itself, obtained through an application. To access such permission, it is necessary to have the operational application managed before the Betting Management System (SIGAP) of the Secretary of Awards and Betting (SPA).
Google also stated that operators of horse racing and lotteries must again obtain certification to continue advertising in Brazil.

In addition to betting sites, Google also banned ads from "aggregators," pages that compare and announce gambling services. The policy applies to all company platforms, such as the search site, YouTube, and Waze, broadening the impact of regulation in the digital betting sector.
