Loterias do Estado do Paraná (Lottopar) successfully held the first Responsible Gaming Week in Curitiba. The event, which took place from October 7 to 11, brought together national and international experts to discuss the importance of education and awareness in the field of sports betting.

The week began with an in-person day at the Canal da Música, which quickly sold out its registrations. During the opening, Elisandro Frigo, general superintendent of Service and Data Governance of the Government of Paraná, highlighted the crucial role of regulation in creating a fair and transparent betting market. Frigo emphasized that regulation has allowed resources that were previously lost abroad to now be allocated to government programs and the promotion of responsible gaming.

Daniel Romanowski, president director of Lottopar, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to promoting a safe and responsible gaming environment in Paraná. To this end, Lottopar has partnered with leading organizations in responsible gaming and sports integrity such as the Union of Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS), the World Lottery Association (WLA), and CIBELAE.

Throughout the week, key topics for the development of a responsible gaming ecosystem were addressed:

  • Analysis of the legal framework of responsible gaming and its importance in protecting bettors.
  • The role of women in the gaming industry and the promotion of equal opportunities and female leadership.
  • Education as a fundamental pillar for responsible gaming, emphasizing that betting should be a form of entertainment and not a way to make a profit.
  • Strategies to prevent sports manipulation, with the participation of football clubs and the Paraná Football Federation.
  • The importance of responsible advertising and the presentation of CONAR's rules to ensure ads that protect vulnerable groups.
  • Actions implemented at the state and federal level to create a safe betting environment.
  • Experiences in combating money laundering and currency evasion, with the participation of experts from Interpol and the Belgian Federal Police.

The participation of international experts enriched the perspective on responsible gaming. Cristina Swan and Daniel Chan, from ULIS, explained how technology and innovation help combat sports fraud. Guy Reinenbergh, from the Belgian Police, shared the measures implemented in Europe to promote safe gaming. Fabio Hegenbart Bueno, from Interpol, highlighted the role of international cooperation in promoting transparency and responsible gaming in sports betting.

Diana Fusco, coordinator of the technical commission for Responsible Gaming of CIBELAE, provided an overview of responsible gaming actions in Latin America and Europe, highlighting best practices and challenges faced by the region.

Lottopar implemented concrete measures to combat illegal betting, including the gradual blocking of more than 2,000 unauthorized websites. The institution also partnered with CONAR to ensure that the advertising of licensed operators complies with responsible advertising standards.

The first Responsible Gaming Week organized by Lottopar was a testament to the institution's commitment to a safe and responsible gaming environment in Paraná. The event laid the foundation for a future where betting is enjoyed responsibly and sustainably.
