Around 11 AM today, I received a call from a friend who was abruptly awakened by a knocking at his door while he was resting at home. Upon getting up and opening the door, he found it was census workers coming to conduct a check.
According to my friend, there were many census workers, knocking on doors one by one. When they encountered someone with a Chinese appearance, the supervisor would personally check.
Fortunately, my friend has some ability to communicate in English, which allowed him to interact with them. Although his driver's license was checked, the census workers did not ask for passport information or inquire about his specific job situation. They only asked some personal life questions, such as whether he is single or has a girlfriend.
According to my research, representatives from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) have coordinated with the Property Management Office (PMO) under the provisions of the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 (Republic Act No. 10625), Executive Order No. 325, and the Community-Based Monitoring System Act (Republic Act No. 11315) to conduct the 2024 Census.
This census will take place from October 21, 2024 (Monday) to October 31, 2024 (Thursday), with the PSA dispatching workers to collect data from households with the assistance of the PMO.
The PSA assures that all data collected in this census will be kept strictly confidential in accordance with Section 26 of RA 10625, Section 4 of Commonwealth Act No. 591, and Section 10 of RA 11315. Furthermore, the data collection process will not violate any provisions of the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173), specifically Article 4(e).
