According to Indian media, a well-known doctor in Ahmedabad, India, became the victim of a meticulously planned scam, losing nearly 40 million rupees (approximately 3.43 million yuan).

The scam gang involved in this case has been exposed by the police, with several suspects arrested.

One of the suspects, named Chetan Ganpat Kokre, along with other gang members, carried out the scam by impersonating law enforcement officers and company representatives.

Kokre first posed as a courier, informing the victim doctor that there was a package being delivered under his name. The package contained a passport, credit cards, a laptop, and also 750 grams of a controlled substance (MDM).

When the victim doctor denied any connection with the package, Kokre used personal information obtained from social media to enhance the credibility of the scam, successfully convincing the doctor of the story. Subsequently, Kokre introduced the doctor to individuals claiming to be senior police officers from the Mumbai Crime Investigation Department, "DCP Anand Rana" and "Milind Barmad," who claimed to be investigating the case and threatened the doctor with criminal charges.

Within just ten days, the victim doctor, in an attempt to clear his name, transferred nearly 40 million rupees to the scam gang. Eventually, realizing he had been deceived, the doctor reported the matter to the police, who acted swiftly and arrested Kokre. The police also seized two mobile phones, four ATM cards, two credit cards, and four checkbooks.

The investigation further revealed that the scam gang was based in Cambodia, with up to 40 members, specializing in impersonating law enforcement officers. Kokre obtained information about targeted celebrities through third-party channels, selecting victims based on their financial status and social background, and using social media information to carry out the scam.

The police are currently tracking down other gang members and are committed to uncovering their extensive criminal network.
