Technology provider Sportradar announced the extension of its long-term partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB), with both parties continuing their existing collaboration until 2032.

Sportradar and MLB first partnered in 2014, and will now continue their data and audiovisual (AV) content cooperation contract for another seven years. As part of the newly reached agreement, Sportradar will distribute all MLB data, AV, and media content on the global market.

Additionally, in the latest deal, MLB has acquired equity in Sportradar, and both parties will also collaborate on developing artificial intelligence integrated products.

Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl commented on this development, saying: "We are thrilled to continue our long-term partnership with MLB, this agreement represents an exciting new chapter in our joint journey. Our collaboration is not only about leveraging cutting-edge technology and content but also about jointly creating innovative products to enhance fan engagement and bring fans closer to the game.

"By integrating our strengths, we can explore new opportunities, attract more sports fans globally, and shape the future of sports entertainment. This transaction will immediately add value to our business and create value for our shareholders as we continue to expand our profit margins and generate strong cash flows."

It is worth noting that Sportradar and MLB also reached a player scouting partnership in November 2024.

This latest announcement was made following significant updates from Sportradar, including the opening of a new office in São Paulo, which will serve as the company's hub in the recently regulated Brazilian sports betting market. Recently, the provider reported a decrease in global match-fixing incidents in 2024, marking the first decline after several years of increases.

MLB Executive Vice President of Media and Business Development Kenny Gersh also spoke about this latest deal: "Sportradar has been an excellent partner for MLB, especially in helping us navigate the legalization and ongoing development of the global sports betting domain. Throughout our partnership, Sportradar has consistently utilized MLB's top-tier data to develop outstanding products. MLB is excited to continue innovating with Sportradar to create captivating products and services for MLB fans worldwide."

In other related recent news, MLB star Shohei Ohtani's translator was sentenced to a total of five years in prison today for admitting to stealing nearly $17 million from a Dodgers pitcher to pay off gambling debts.
