International Game Technology (IGT) announced a three-year contract with the Portuguese national lottery operator Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML).
The agreement was signed by IGT's subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation, designating IGT as the primary provider of instant ticket printing and related services for SCML. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process.
Under the terms of the contract, SCML will have access to IGT's portfolio of instant lottery games, which includes a variety of game options. In addition to printing tickets, IGT will also provide marketing services such as game development and analytics, aimed at tailoring products to the preferences of the Portuguese market.
Since 2000, IGT has been a major technology partner for SCML, providing a range of services including retail central system hardware, software, terminal maintenance, and on-site support. This latest contract extends the long-standing relationship between the two companies.
In the United States, IGT provides technology to 26 of the 46 state lottery agencies. The company also has contracts with several of the world's largest lottery organizations.
IGT Chief Operating Officer Jay Gendron said, "IGT's long-standing partnership with SCML and our extensive understanding of the Portuguese market will enable us to work closely with the lottery to deliver world-class instant lottery games tailored to local players' needs."
Earlier this month, IGT appointed Nick Khin as President of Global Gaming, a move that reflects a change in leadership aimed at strengthening its position in the gaming industry.
Additionally, IGT has been enhancing its sports betting business in the United States, including a recent collaboration with Monarch Casino & Resort to provide its PlaySports platform and related services.
