Protecting user information security is Facebook's primary responsibility.

PASA has summarized some Facebook security tips to help you identify suspicious requests and activities, and ensure the security of your account and Facebook public pages. Since your business page is associated with your personal Facebook account, it is crucial to ensure the security of both.

1. Use strong passwords and two-factor authentication to protect your Facebook account

Choose a unique, strong password. Avoid using names, phone numbers, emails, or common words as passwords. Do not share your Facebook password with other online services, and never share it with others.

To further secure your account, we recommend enabling two-factor authentication, and you can also make this requirement for other business members.

Once you set up this extra layer of protection, we will ask you to enter a verification code or confirm login whenever your Facebook account attempts to log in from an unfamiliar computer or mobile device. We also recommend that you sign up to receive alerts so that you are notified when your account attempts to log in from an unfamiliar device.

Visit the Help Center to learn more about how to set up, manage two-factor authentication, and receive alerts for unfamiliar logins.

2. Check the identity and permissions of homepage users

Make sure you are familiar with the different homepage user identities and their permissions. We recommend that you regularly check in settings who has administrative rights to your homepage, and take some time to understand the permissions you grant when you add your homepage to the Business Management Platform.

We also suggest setting up multiple administrators for the homepage, so even if you lose access to the page, people you trust can help keep the homepage running smoothly and regain your rights.

3. Do not accept friend requests from strangers

Scammers may create fake accounts to exploit others by adding them as friends. Accepting a scammer's friend request may lead to them posting spam on your timeline and sharing it with your friends.

Scammers may also tag you in posts, send malicious messages to you and your contacts, so we advise you to be cautious when accepting friend requests, only accepting those from people you know and trust.

Similarly, do not grant Business Management Platform permissions to unfamiliar pages. You can report suspicious Business Management Platform permission requests in the Help Center.

4. Beware of suspicious links and malware

Be wary of links from people you do not recognize, especially those from strangers or untrusted individuals. Be careful not to click on suspicious links, open dubious files, or install malicious apps/browser extensions, even if they come from friends or familiar companies.

This includes links on Facebook, in private messages, and in emails. Please note that Facebook will never ask for your password in an email. You can always check the recent emails we sent in the security and login settings to confirm whether an email claiming to be from Facebook is trustworthy.

If you see a post or message trying to lure you into providing personal information, report it.

To avoid your devices or computer network being infected, learn about the signs of malware and how to protect your devices from attacks. Also, remember to update your devices, web browsers, and applications promptly, and remove any suspicious applications or browser plugins.

5. Set up trusted contacts

To help you regain access to your account and homepage if you are locked out, you can set friends as trusted contacts. They can then send you a backup verification code via a URL to help you recover your account.

Finally, if you believe your personal account has been compromised, please go to facebook.com/hacked for help, and visit our Help Center for assistance with homepage security.

You can also visit the Privacy Basics to learn more about ways to enhance your account security and understand our existing protection measures.
