The American Gaming Association (AGA) has forecast that a record US$1.39bn will be wagered on this year’s NFL Super Bowl clash.
The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming for a third successive title as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9.
The AGA has changed its approach to estimating Super Bowl betting activity, with 2025 the first year it has published a prediction for total wagers from legal jurisdictions only.
Previously, its projections included bets made on unregulated or illegal platforms as well as casual bets among friends and family.
However, after “years of legal operations in several US states,” the AGA said it now analyses historical data and other trends to develop its wager estimate for US sports betting moments.
The AGA has once again partnered with former New Orleans player Mark Ingram II, who will appear on behalf of the AGA’s “Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly” campaign.
In December, the trade association added to its gaming public service campaign with a fifth element called “Keep Your Cool.”
It already advises players to Set a Budget, Keep it Social, Know the Odds and Play Legally.
