The Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications of Laos, Sairousa Insixiengmai, personally led a team, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Public Security, and several telecommunications service providers, to conduct strict inspections on the telecommunications and internet connections entering and exiting the country.
This operation took place near the Laos-Thailand Friendship Bridge, with the aim of ensuring that international telecommunications and internet connections comply with legal regulations, combating illegal connections and unlawful activities, and safeguarding network security. The relevant departments also hope that this inspection will promote more convenient and efficient network access and improve the overall internet penetration rate in society.
According to Lao Government Resolution No. 221, all individuals and businesses within the country, including telecommunications and internet service providers, must adhere to strict regulations on international telecommunications connections. This inspection focuses on curbing criminal activities such as fraud through illegal network connections, ensuring national network security, and also enhancing the regulatory oversight of the telecommunications industry.
This action has received support from multiple departments, marking further strengthening in the fields of network security and telecommunications management in Laos.
