According to The Wall Street Journal, Meta is accelerating the automation of its advertising business, planning to have the entire process of ad placement completed by artificial intelligence by 2026. Advertisers will only need to provide product images and a budget, with the rest handled by AI.
As a social media giant with 3.43 billion active users worldwide, Meta has utilized AI technology to create personalized advertising materials, automatically generate image backgrounds, and adjust video content to fit different platform needs. These AI tools have been widely adopted by advertisers for significantly improving advertising efficiency and returns.
The report states that in the future, advertisers will be able to input product images and budgets into the system, and AI will generate a complete set of advertisements including graphics and videos, along with audience targeting and bidding suggestions suitable for Instagram and Facebook. Additionally, Meta will introduce personalized advertising features, allowing users to see customized ads based on factors such as their geographical location.
Although Meta has not yet responded to Reuters' request for comment, this strategy indicates that advertising revenue remains central to its business. Meanwhile, competitors such as Snap, Pinterest, and Reddit are also increasing their investment in AI in an attempt to gain a share in the competitive advertising market.
However, despite the introduction of generative AI tools by technology companies including Google and OpenAI, advertisers still have concerns regarding creative control, brand safety, and content quality, and have not widely adopted these tools.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that future AI advertising tools must deliver "measurable large-scale results," and the company's goal is to create a one-stop AI platform for advertising, helping businesses set goals and budgets, with the rest efficiently handled by AI.
